Our panel will discuss the current and emerging trends in the recruitment markets, with an accent on the difficulties faced by some market players on finding adequate candidates, followed by insights from our panel on how these could become opportunities. We will subsequently open the presentation for questions from the audience.

Rory Smith is the founder of Brickfield Recruitment, which he established in 2018 after developing a strong relationship with the fund finance community in his previous role as publisher of the leading Fund Finance publication, known in the industry as the Pink Book.

His unique market knowledge as a recruitment specialist and genuine passion for the fund finance industry are unrivalled, and Rory has built a strong reputation for candor, trust and a deep understanding of his clients’ needs, as well as his ability to connect people throughout the fund finance 360 ecosystem.

Based in London, I am the Director of Marks Sattin’s Financial Service business. The team delivers search and contingent mandates in the UK, Europe and US across a number of verticals. I believe recruitment should be an empathetic, professional service; I enjoy listening to the aspirations of highly talented people and matching them only with businesses I believe share their values thus generating mutual value for everyone involved.

Whilst running the FS business and contributing to the strategic management of Marks Sattin, I have a particular focus on senior finance and investment mandates in the alternative investment management sector. I am also Chair of Marks Sattin’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Tim is a Director and joined Stevenson James in 2016 and is responsible for leading mandates for Investment, Investor Relations and Fundraising professionals within the private debt markets.

With over 17 years of experience in corporate and credit markets, Tim was formerly an equity partner and a member of the senior executive team at 3i Debt Management (formerly Mizuho Investment Management “MIM”) and was responsible for the credit team, asset procurement and investor relations. Previously he was a member of the origination team at Mizuho’s leveraged finance business.

Tim holds an LLB (Hons) in Law from Trinity College, Dublin.
