Tracy Child is a Managing Director and Wealth Advisor in the New York City office of J.P. Morgan Private Bank. As a member of the Financial Sponsors Group, she works closely with private equity partners and other sophisticated clients to strategically navigate the complexity inherent in structuring and transferring institutional-scaled wealth.
Tracy enjoys collaborating with clients to define their concerns, intentions and priorities. She taps the breadth of J.P. Morgan to map out customized wealth plans designed to protect and transfer assets across generations, ensure a smooth business succession or support a philanthropic mission—all while minimizing tax exposure and unintended consequences. Tracy serves as a trusted advisor to those she works with, and is known for her relatability and ease in clearly explaining often-complicated structures, ensuring that clients feel comfortable and confident in the approach.
As a former practicing attorney and law firm partner, Tracy is highly regarded by professional colleagues for her extensive background in multi-generational wealth preservation and tax law. She has consistently been honored with industry accolades over her 20-plus year career, including Best Lawyers in America–Trusts and Estates, New Jersey Law Journal–Leader of the Bar, and New Jersey’s Super Lawyers, among others.
Tracy earned a Master of Law in Taxation, LL.M., from New York Law School and a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. She received her B.S. from Boston College, where she graduated cum laude, was on the Women’s Club Rugby team, and worked as a tax intern at Arthur Andersen LLP.
Before joining J.P. Morgan, Tracy was a Partner leading the Trusts & Estates Practice at Sherman Atlas Sylvester & Stamelman. Previously, she served as Counsel in the T&E Practice at Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti LLP and a Corporate Tax Senior Associate at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Tracy and her husband, Jimmy, reside in Avon-by-the-Sea, New Jersey, with their three young children. Her family of five enjoys soccer, basketball and skiing, and are happiest when spending time together on the beach.
